Often we do have choice. Do we drive? – or do we walk? These are questions we could ask and decisions we could make. And then, which routes should we choose? Where possible and time allows, I’ll always walk the route which helps me to feel in touch with my soul.
Let me give you an example: When I’m in Gauteng on business, I stay at the Holiday Inn, Johannesburg-Rosebank for a number of reasons: it is so easy to catch the Gautrain from the airport and the Rosebank station is right outside the hotel. In addition the hotel is light and airy and the manager, Bill Frohlich and staff are friendly and helpful. But in addition, it is part of ‘The Zone’ a pedestrian area where I love to walk.
The numerous pavement café’s blend with the pedestrians walking past. The atmosphere is lively yet balanced by some amazing discoveries as we walk down the street. I admire the stone sculptures from every angle.
And then when I look down, I see many granite pavers with inspiring words.
Beyond ‘The Zone’ pedestrian area the walkway blends into tree-lined streets which at present are lined with Jacaranda in full bloom and the beauty spreads to the pavements.
So make conscious decisions. Don’t always go to the same old places over and over again. Explore different routes. Mirror your soul in discovering a new world. Tread gently but deliberately.
The streets where you walk can change your life.
