EYES Publishing is the publishing arm of Brenda Eckstein International. The acronym ‘EYES’ stands for ‘Enhance Your Executive Skills’ and is used not only for publishing, but also for our executive development programmes which combine group training and individual coaching.
Brenda has presented training or been engaged as a professional speaker on five continents. An executive coach, many of her writings are intended to inspire people to coach themselves.
Well-known author, Brenda has four published books:
- GROW: How to turn y our stumbling blocks into stepping stones
- FLOW: How to turn y our stumbling blocks into stepping stones
- ABCs of Networking: Fifty-two ways to achieve success
- Networking Tactics: A guide to achieving success through personal networking
In this new series of books Brenda shows how through reflecting on each real-life story in this collection you can motivate yourself to take action and enrich your life.
How did this series become known as the FLAGS series? Just as buildings in former times were often centered around a strong foundation with an emphasis on the cornerstones, this series of books is built around cornerstones. The elements in the framework are Flow, Lead, Advance, Grow and Serve.
The first two books in this series are available on Amazon in both printed and e-book format. So you have a choice as to how you’d like to enjoy reading these books.
GROW: HOW TO TURN YOUR STUMBLING BLOCKS INTO STEPPING STONES
The philosophy underlying the author’s approach is Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle. However, the stories are captured in non-academic language so that they are more accessible to a wider audience. They are easy for the layman and experienced coach to read.
The title, GROW is in no way intended as implying that this book, although having a coaching orientation, is in any way related to a coaching model of that name. The same applies to the word, ‘FLOW’ in the title of the first book in the FLAGS series. While acknowledging the importance of the term ‘flow’ in Positive Psychology, the concept of Fun, energy and flow was used in Brenda’s writings and teachings years before the flourishing science emerged.
FLOW: HOW TO TURN YOUR STUMBLING BLOCKS INTO STEPPING STONES
How would we describe this book? It is aimed at anyone who enjoys reading positive stories which can be applied to their own lives. Based on the author's personal experiences it shows how we can use stories to get our message across whether addressing a large audience or holding a conversation with one person. It is written so that it may be read for interest or used as a workbook for self-coaching. It shows how through reading someone else's stories, readers can develop their own insights, meaning and action plans for self-improvement thereby enriching your life.
This, the first book in the FLAGS, shows you how to turn your stumbling blocks into stepping stones through using a positive, FLOW approach. This is a term coined by Positive Psychology and shows a state where challenge and skills meet. The readers are challenged to enhance their skills through reading, reflecting, finding meaning and developing action plans.
If you have purchased either of these books in the FLAGS series, you’ll find the downloadable workbooks useful.
Prior to the FLAGS series, Brenda, the networking guru, authored two other published books, ‘Networking Tactics’ (now in its second, revised edition) and ‘ABCs of Effective Networking’ published in October 2008.
‘Networking Tactics’ combines personal networking and strategy. The second book provides 52 tips and examples for enhancing your networking performance. The practical application is shown. One-day, half-day and two-hour networking workshops and talks based on both books are in great demand. These are ideal for conferences, public presentations or ‘in-house’ training.
Brenda's Research Report for her M Phil degree (Management Coaching) on "The role of coaching in developing character strengths in leaders" was published by Stellenbosch University Business School in July 2017. Click here to view it.
